    Prepaid Debit Card

  1. Unlike regular debit cards, prepaid debit cards do not draw from your bank account. Instead, you load money onto the card and may spend only that amount. Oftentimes, people use prepaid debit cards when they can’t obtain a bank account or when they have trouble staying out of debt. Since a prepaid debit card isn’t linked to your bank account, there’s no danger of overdraft fees. However, these cards do not help you to build your credit.

  3. Prepaid credit cards are usually called secured credit cards because you are using only the amount that you deposit into the account.

Home prices are down, so why not insurance?

Written on January 7, 2011 – 6:21 am | by Sebastian Braim

If you’re a homeowner, chances are your house is worth less than it was five years ago. But you could still be paying more to insure it.

Despite the deep housing bust of the last few years, the cost of rebuilding a damaged home – in other words, what you pay insurance for – has not changed much, according to industry experts.

That means that unless you have reduced coverage or increased your deductible, chances are you are paying as much or more to insure your home as before the housing bust.

“The price of homeowners’ insurance is based on the cost to repair or rebuild your home. The p

When you need short term health insurance policies in Britain, you can apply for a quote with a provider such as Health Insurance UK, who will assess your application and search for the best coverage and rates to suit your needs across many providers.

Competition has been increasing between providers who offer temporary health insurance, which means the difference in premium rates are becoming more increasingly affordable for persons in need. The process for obtaining coverage is usually quick and non-intrusive, with the ability to make a payment over the phone with a credit card and resulting in coverage within a single business day. Health insurance claim denial recourse or when you shouldn’t take “no” for an answer

Written on December 23, 2010 – 12:30 am | by Hunter Rankine

Anyone who’s had health insurance for any length of time is pretty familiar with all of the rules, steps, and hoops you have to go through to get coverage. Suffice to say, insurance companies don’t necessarily make the process an easy one. But once you’ve found a provider on your insurance plan, made an appointment and had your visit, most of us would feel safe in assuming our health insurance would pay for the health service. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case.

The story of a health insurance claim denial

A story from Reuters tells how a writer saw a nutritionist to help her deal with her dangerously high cholesterol; the nutritionist was an approved provider of her Empire BlueCross BlueShield plan.

Home damage peaks with Christmas pre-going-out parties

Written on December 18, 2010 – 6:17 am | by Hunter Rankine

Damage to Britain’s homes caused by beauty products cost an estimated £1.4 billion over the past 12 months, with the Christmas party season a particularly treacherous period for spillages, stains and worse.

According to research from Halifax Home Insurance, accidents commonly occur during “pre-going-out” parties and the bill could top £115 million in the run up to Christmas.

The insurer found that make-up stains cause 17% of damage; fake tan/hair dye 11% and nail varnish 8%.

Burn marks caused by hair straighteners are also common, with an incidence of 5%, and even going-out shoes can create mayhem as stiletto heels wreck floors.

The level of alcohol consumption at pre-night-out parties is partly to blame, with more than a third of adults saying they drink at home in advance, in order to save money at the bar.

However, the growing trend for “sofa-lising” on Saturday nights, which involves watching TV programmes such as X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing with friends, presents another hazard, costing an estimated £820 million in the past year for drink spillages on carpets and electrical equipment.

Young women in their early 20s are particularly accident prone, the research suggests.

Halifax Home Insurance senior claims manager, Martyn Foulds, comments: “The rise in popularity of ‘sofa-lising’ and drinking at home before going out has significantly increased the likelihood of home accidents, so while many will stay home to try and save money, it may prove to be a false economy if careless behaviour ends up costing them more.”

Halifax recommends homeowners check their policies to ensure they are fully covered against accidental damage.
